How to Spring Clean Every Room
Spring cleaning doesn’t have to be tedious. Take your time and plan out how to tackle each room in the house.
Create a room-by-room checklist and set a timer
List tasks for each room (dust, vacuum, declutter, windows, linens, appliances).
Use a 15–30 minute timer for focused bursts to avoid overwhelm and keep momentum.
Prioritize high-traffic and high-impact areas first (kitchen surfaces, bathrooms, entryway).
Declutter with three clear bins: Keep, Donate/Sell, Toss
Handle one category at a time (clothes, papers, kids’ toys, kitchen gadgets).
Be realistic: if an item hasn’t been used in 12 months, consider donating or selling.
Recycle or responsibly dispose of broken or expired items (medicines, makeup, batteries).
Deep-clean overlooked surfaces and systems
Move furniture to vacuum and clean baseboards, vents, and behind appliances.
Wash or steam curtains, clean blinds, and launder throw pillows and duvet covers.
Descale faucets, showerheads, and coffee makers; clean refrigerator coils and replace HVAC filters.
Use efficient cleaning tools and targeted products
Microfiber cloths, extendable dusters, and a HEPA vacuum save time and capture more dust.
Keep a multi-surface cleaner, glass cleaner, disinfectant wipes, and an enzyme cleaner for stains/odors.
Pre-treat stains and soak grimy items (shower doors, oven racks) while you tackle other tasks.
Finish with organization and maintenance systems
Return items to designated homes; label storage bins and use clear containers for visibility.
Implement daily 10-minute tidy routines and a weekly mini-clean to prevent buildup.
Schedule seasonal reminders (filter changes, donation drop-offs, deep-clean tasks) on your calendar.
